AAC advises on art investment. We appraise contemporary artworks against set parameters with the aim of ensuring maximum returns. The colour of your scatter cushions doesn’t enter into it.
Today, art is an economy in its own right. While this status is not something art itself has sought, it is nonetheless a reality. Art satisfies the human need for self-fulfilment, and so naturally enough, there is a constant demand for work of high artistic merit. In essence, the best.
This explains why art is not affected by the economic recession to the same extent as shares and real estate. Moreover, it is possible, using set parameters, to assess an artist’s or a particular artwork’s position in the market. Factors include the gallery representing the artist, that gallery’s finances, the private and museum collections in which the artist’s work is held, the number of pieces by the artist on the market.
Our focus, however, is primarily on the individual piece itself. Is it, essentially, a significant piece by a significant artist? Here we distinguish between ‘A-list’ and ‘B-list’ pieces since even in the output of an accomplished artist there will be some unevenness. And the difference between investing in an A-list or a B-list piece will be amply reflected in the price it fetches the day it is resold. Great art is more than a name. No bad thing.
These, then, are the considerations that inform our consulting services and recommendations. We have the experience, the well-honed instincts and the connections to ensure that clients get access to the quality artworks that promise the best returns and which will also, in the meantime, be a source of delight and interest in a private home or a corporate setting. For naturally, art that is a sound investment is also a source of pleasure and aesthetic satisfaction, embodying precisely those qualities that characterize good art.
